1. Introduction

Testpanel, Inc. ("Testpanel", "we", "us", or "our") values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the Testpanel platform and related services ("Service"). By using Testpanel, you agree to this Policy.

If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide Directly
  • Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and other information you provide.
  • Payment Information: Paid plans use Stripe for payment processing. We do not store your full credit card number or sensitive payment details.
  • Uploaded Content: Any notes, text, or content you input or upload is collected for your personal use on the platform. This content is private by default unless you choose to share it.
b. Information Collected Automatically
  • Usage Data: We collect information about your activity on Testpanel, such as which features you use, your AI task counts, and site usage.
  • Device and Log Data: We may collect your device type, browser, IP address, and operating system.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage to manage sessions, authentication, and site performance (see "Cookies and Tracking Technologies" below).
c. Information from Third Parties
  • API and Payment Providers: If you use third-party logins or access external services (such as OpenAI for study generation or Stripe for billing), we may receive certain information from those providers as needed to provide the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the Service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide support
  • Personalize your experience and track progress
  • Ensure security and prevent misuse
  • Fulfill legal obligations
  • Improve features, develop new offerings, and (in some cases) support product-related marketing or advertising

We do not sell your information for third-party marketing.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Testpanel uses cookies and similar technologies to deliver and improve your experience.

  • Essential cookies enable login, session management, and security. Without them, you cannot use core platform features.
  • Non-essential cookies are used for analytics, product improvement, and, at times, product-related advertising.

We use third-party analytics services (including Segment, Google Analytics, and Hotjar), which may set their own cookies governed by their privacy policies. LocalStorage and sessionStorage are used to help manage your sessions and temporarily store study data, usually for up to 24 hours.

Your Choices:

By using Testpanel, you consent to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described here. At this time, we do not offer a cookie banner or an in-app option to opt out of non-essential cookies, but you can manage or disable cookies and storage through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will impact your ability to use the Service.

Data Retention:

Session cookies and local storage are cleared at the end of your session or within 24 hours for temporary data. Analytics and third-party cookies may persist longer, according to their own policies.

5. Analytics, Advertising, and Data Sharing

We use analytics and tracking data to:

  • Improve features and the user experience
  • Understand how Testpanel is used
  • Support product development and (occasionally) product-related advertising

We do not currently share analytics data with external partners. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide notice.

6. Data Storage and Security
  • Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud servers in the United States.
  • We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.
  • However, no online platform is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your personal data as long as your account is active or as needed for the Service and our legal obligations. If you request deletion, we will remove your account and personal data from our servers, but cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage data on your device may not be deleted automatically. You may need to clear these through your browser.

8. International Users

Testpanel is designed for users in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ.

At this time, we do not have mechanisms in place to disable analytics or tracking for EU/UK users or upon request. We may add such features in the future.

9. Children's Privacy

Testpanel is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete that information.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access, update, or correct your information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of certain communications
  • Withdraw consent, where applicable

To exercise your rights, email us at [email protected]. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, if changes are significant, provide notice by email or on the platform. Please review this Policy regularly.
